James (Mike) Branson Joins Forest2Market’s Board of Directors; Bowen Smith Retires after 14 Years of Service
Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) July 16, 2015 -- Forest2Market announced that James (Mike) Branson, who spent his 32-year career in the forest products industry at Weyerhaeuser, has been elected to Forest2Market’s board of directors. Bowen Smith, who has served on Forest2Market’s board for 14 years, is retiring.
Branson’s most recent role at Weyerhaeuser was as Senior Vice President of Global Timberlands, managing timberlands in North America, South America and Asia. Prior to that, Branson also managed the company’s southern timberlands and mill portfolios. He has served on the boards of the American Forest Foundation, the National Alliance of Forest Owners and Catchlight Energy.
“Having worked in all parts of the supply chain, Mike is an ideal addition to Forest2Market’s board,” said Pete Stewart, the company’s CEO/President and founder. “The combination of his deep industry and management experience and his knowledge of finance and strategic planning will be extremely valuable as Forest2Market continues to grow.”
“I’ve admired Forest2Market since we first started doing business together in 2002. I’ve always respected the innovative way it brings transparency to forest products markets, and I’m honored to be joining the board,” said Branson. “I think highly of Pete and the other board members, and I look forward to working with them to propel Forest2Market forward as it continues to expand internationally.”
Bowen Smith has been on Forest2Market’s board since 2001, just after Forest2Market launched its first products. “Bowen’s contributions to Forest2Market are considerable, and we can't thank him enough. On behalf of the board and the entire company, I want to thank him for his thoughtful leadership, expertise and insight over the years,” said Stewart.
“Forest2Market is a strong company with talented employees and leadership. It has been gratifying to work with Pete and the rest of the board and to have seen the company grow and thrive over the last 10 years,” said Smith. “I am confident the future holds more of the same.”
