Franklin University Receives Approval to Offer Classes Onsite at the Community College of Beaver County
Columbus, OH and Monaca, PA. (PRWEB) September 09, 2013 -- Franklin University, one of the leading educators of working adults, is pleased to announce it has received approval from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (Bureau of Postsecondary and Adult Education), in accordance with 22 Pa. Code § 36.8, to offer programs onsite at the Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) in Monaca, Pa.
This announcement extends the opportunities available to individuals who want to further their education within the traditional classroom setting without leaving Beaver County. Through the CCBC partnership with Franklin University, students gain the benefit of saving money on tuition by taking their first three years of classes at CCBC and then transferring to Franklin to take one year of coursework and complete a degree, all without leaving their community.
“We’ve enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the Community College of Beaver County, including with Dr. Joe Forrester who serves as a member on our Council of Presidents,” said Dr. David Decker, President, Franklin University. “It is through these enduring relationships that we can provide innovative and quality curriculum to meet the needs of CCBC students and alumni who have the desire, and now means, to achieve their education and career goals.”
On site programs will be offered beginning this Fall in Franklin’s fully accredited B.S. Business Administration and Management & Leadership (double major) and B.S. – Allied Healthcare Management, aligning skill sets with the workforce needs and employment projections of Beaver County and surrounding areas.
“Many students who graduate from CCBC have told us they would enjoy the opportunity to stay on campus and have the opportunity to complete their bachelor’s degree. In the past, we have been able to refer them to Franklin’s online degree program, but this new partnership will bring courses and degree opportunities directly to the campus. Additionally, Franklin will accept more than 80 semester credits from CCBC in transfer, significantly more than the sixty hour limit from other colleges and universities. The lower cost of the additional CCBC courses will provide a major cost savings to students pursuing their bachelor’s degree with Franklin. The programs available through this partnership will be a great asset to our community and to CCBC students who wish to further their education beyond the associate degree. We are excited to have the opportunity to expand our relationship with Franklin and about the new options it provides to members of our community,” Dr. Joe D. Forrester, President, Community College of Beaver County.
