Franklin County Visitors Bureau Announces Kick-Off For IceFest 2019
FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. (PRWEB) January 31, 2019 -- Ice Fest 2019 starts today, January 31, at 5 PM with a ribbon-cutting on the southwest quadrant of Memorial Square, tucked between Central Presbyterian Church and the new Franklin County 11/30 Visitor Center. This year, the traditional IceFest cupcakes will be served inside the 11/30 Center. The four-day festival runs through February 3. Come out and start exploring 30-tons of ice and enjoy Franklin County, Pennsylvania.

The 11/30 Visitors Center is hosting the Chambersburg Quilt Guild’s annual quilt raffle. See the quilt; purchase raffle tickets. Penn's Woods Printmakers are showing a variety of paintings, drawings, etchings, and linocuts. Plus, local elementary art is on display at the 11/30 Center and throughout businesses of downtown.
On Thursday, from 8 PM to 11 PM, the Ghost Pit team is investigating the 11/30 Visitor Center- a former Bank building dating back to 1865. The public can participate. Tickets are $10 and available here on Eventbrite. On Saturday at 2PM - 4PM, the Ghost Pit team will talk about its findings. The event is free and open to the public in the second-floor Great Room of the 11/30 Visitors Center. The Ghost Pit is followed at 4:30 PM on Saturday, February 2, by the first Acappella & Unplugged open mic. There is no charge to perform and the winner is guaranteed a slot in Round 1 of Acappella & Unplugged at the Capitol Theatre in June 2019. Acappella & Unplugged is a journey to performing in front of thousands before the 1864 Burning & Rebirth of Chambersburg on July 20 and winning $500.
IceFest 2019 is the 17th festival, made possible by the Downtown Business Council of Chambersburg, Downtown Chambersburg Inc, Chambersburg Council for the Arts and the sponsorship of M&T Bank. Each year, it draws 20,000 visitors from south central PA, the tri-state communities adjoining I-81, and Washington DC.
