Free People to Partner with Citizens of Humanity
The lifestyle brand created an exclusive collection of denim styles with the brand and artist Jenny Hart of Sublime Stitching.
PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- This November, Free People will exclusively sell three limited-edition Citizens of Humanity embroidered pieces by Jenny Hart. The collection will be featured online at FreePeople.com and in store locations West Broadway, Studio City, and Austin Domain starting the week of November 12th.
The concept for the collection "Desert Aura" is inspired by the mystique of the desert and its promise of freedom for those who dare to venture into its wilds. Jenny's concept highlights the magic of the desert, with symbols of freedom, solitude, sunrises and energy emanating from the plants that thrive there. The collection will feature the Estelle Embroidered Flare, Astrid Mini Skirt, and the Nica Jacket.
"Here at Citizens of Humanity, we had partnered with Jenny Hart for previous events and were so enthralled with her incredible talent and the detail that went into her work. After seeing it first hand, we knew we wanted to collaborate with her on a larger scale and felt Free People would make for the perfect partner to bring everything to life. We worked closely with our embroidery technicians in order to replicate Jenny's designs where our entire team pushed their skills further than ever before to successfully achieve the organic feel of handmade embroidery." – Alaina Miller, Citizens of Humanity Women's Design Director
Jenny Hart was born in 1972 in Iowa City and raised in rural Illinois. She is best known for her work in hand embroidery and her design and supply company Sublime Stitching, founded in 2001. Hart's work has been published in numerous books and magazines including Vogue, NYLON, Spin, The Face, Juxtapoz, The New York Times Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, FLOW, Little Thing, Uppercase and others. She has exhibited in Los Angeles, Paris, London, Tokyo and New York.
To celebrate the collaboration, Free People will host three in-store events throughout the US. On Thursday November 15th, at Free People's Studio City location, attendees can stop in for a meet and greet with Jenny Hart, light bites, Moon Juice cocktails and a Sublime Stitching gift.
The brand will host two additional events at their West Broadway, NYC and Austin locations. Both events will serve light bites and cocktails and have giveaway with purchase of collection items. Jenny Hart will make an appearance at both events to meet with attendees and discuss her creative process. The Austin event will be on Saturday November 17th and NYC will be on Sunday November 18th.
For those who are unable to make upcoming events, the limited-edition collection will be up for sale on FreePeople.com.
