PORDENONE, Italy – Separated from her grandson by the Atlantic Ocean, author Elizabeth Ribetti bridges the distance with her stories, poems and treasure hunts, as she has learned that anything can be woven into an educational story. A Washington Post article about invasive brown tree snakes in Guam inspired her to create the story of “Game Over for Capo and Friends” (published by Xlibris UK).

Capo and his fellow friends are brown tree snakes in search of adventure. After a risky and scary voyage as stowaways on a ship, good fortune delivers them to the Island of Guam. The abundance of prey and lack of predators allow the snakes to grow in strength and to multiply rapidly, but the delicate balance of nature is suddenly interrupted due to their presence. Twelve native bird species become extinct and the residents live in constant fear. Based on a true event, “Game Over for Capo and Friends” entertains as it reveals what can happen when natural habitats take an unnatural turn of events.

“Game Over for Capo and Friends” is a vibrantly illustrated, fun-filled and educational picture book that teaches young readers about the dangers of invasive species, the delicate balance of the ecosystem and how nature’s order is a precious treasure that must be safeguarded and preserved.
