LOS ANGELES, Nov. 1, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Gay + Lesbian Rowing Federation (GLRF) is pleased to announce the creation of a global partnership with Rowing The World to enable LGBTQ+ rowing tours and travel. The first tour is now available for booking, http://lgbtrowingtour.glrf.info
The 7-day Lake Maggiore tour will be the first trip specifically targeting LGBTQ+ rowers and their husbands/wives, friends, and straight allies. Ruth Marr, founder and president of Rowing the World, commented that many of the trips she leads have gay and lesbian rowers, and everyone is welcome. However, she has received multiple requests to create tours specifically targeted for LGBTQ+ rowers. Marr approached the Gay + Lesbian Rowing Federation to partner because of their large membership base and their focus on supporting a global community where members can share their experiences.
To support the rowing tours, GLRF will host a separate newsletter email campaign http://rowingtheworldnews.glrf.info to announce any upcoming trips for interested rowers and friends, and in addition, list the trips on the GLRF website. Although GLRF OnTheWater members do receive a tour discount, there are no revenue sharing arrangements with Rowing The World. All participants, including GLRF staff, pay the same tour price. For GLRF, the partnership creates an additional benefit for its members, to enjoy rowing in a recreational format with a community-focused environment.
Brian Todd, executive director of the Gay + Lesbian Rowing Federation, believes this trip will spur interest in a number of rowing travel and tour experiences. He notes that when you combine a love of rowing with a feeling of recognition and reassurance that you and your husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend are welcome and accepted by the other members of the group and the group operators and guides, it conveys a sense of ease and comfort.
Worldwide, the travel industry has seen a surge in lgbtq-focused travel experiences, with a growth in gay cruises, gay ski weeks, and gay adventure tours. A recent research study released in 2018 by Out Now indicates the global LGBTQ travel market exceeds USD218 billion, and their data points to a robust, diverse and growing demand for travel experiences through 2030.
