G-CON Manufacturing, Inc., the leading prefabricated cleanroom POD® manufacturer, today announced that it has broken ground on a new manufacturing building on its corporate campus. The new building will provide an additional 12,000 square feet of manufacturing space and will be adjacent to existing facilities. With the addition, G-CON will now have over 62,000 square feet of office and manufacturing space at its corporate campus in College Station, Texas.

The facility expansion is the latest step taken by G-CON to meet the rapidly growing demand for G-CON’s autonomous and prefabricated POD units. Earlier this year, G-CON purchased its corporate campus and an adjacent 8.8 acre tract as part of its expansion plan. G-CON is also in the planning phases for an even larger manufacturing facility on the eight acre tract. Said facility is currently planned to provide an additional 100,000 square feet of linear manufacturing space to provide for the production of multiple PODs in sequential order.

“G-CON’s expansion represents an important milestone in our Company’s growth. Having this additional manufacturing capacity and the ability to expand even more will allow us to grow to meet the rapidly rising demand.”

G-CON’s POD based approach has garnered significant interest since the announcement of its groundbreaking oral solid dosage form POD system built pursuant to its collaboration with Pfizer and GEA which consortium now includes GSK, the numerous awards won by G-CON including the 2016 ISPE Facility of the Year Award for Equipment Innovation and the rising requests for flexible, scalable and rapidly deployable cleanroom infrastructures. G-CON’s approach is the only truly turnkey approach on the market with G-CON providing in house engineering through detailed design and seamless and efficiently executed delivery working with customers to ensure that PODs are built, delivered, commissioned and tested to customer approved specifications.    

“The pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries are shifting to process intensification and therefore smaller footprint manufacturing sites. These sites must be rapidly deployable and, if needed, relocatable and repurposable. These attributes can be fulfilled by our PODs and the industry has recognized this fact. For this reason we see accelerated growth in our order intake and proposal requests,” adds Jornitz “We are not only increasing our manufacturing capabilities in Texas, but are also actively working on the establishment of two international sites to serve the European and Asian regions.”
