Any Camera. Every Photo.
Carlsbad, CA (PRWEB) August 06, 2013
Geo Tactical Solutions (GTS) has just released its new professional-grade GPS module, FotoMapr. In addition to its high positional accuracy, FotoMapr delivers powerful capabilities designed to greatly enhance georeferenced photographic data collection in the field. The module works seamlessly with any digital camera and enables the photographer to accurately geotag photos, record descriptive memos about each photo, create GPS track-logs, and integrate with laser range finders to acquire distance and object location measurements.
FotoMapr is sold with supporting software called QuickMap which allows users to quickly and easily map photos in Google Earth by generating a KML file. Data collected using FotoMapr can also be converted into a number of file formats suitable for use in popular GIS applications such as ArcGIS, FalconView, GeoSuite, and Palantir.
“We designed FotoMapr to be affordable and work with any digital camera,” said Jim Kidd, Vice President at Geo Tactical Solutions. “FotoMapr is a great accomplishment for GTS and Eka Technologies, and a noteworthy innovation in GPS technology.”
FotoMapr produces positional accuracy of 1-3 meters.
FotoMapr supports up to 20 memos per photo which are used to tag photos with descriptive information such as photographer’s name, project ID, project type, location name, and so on.
FotoMapr works with TruPulse laser range finders to acquire distance and object location measurements.
Multiple GPS Formats
GPS coordinates recorded with FotoMapr can be stored in a variety of formats including LAT/LONG, MGRS, UTM and State Plane depending on user requirements.
Electronic Compass and GPS Track-logs
In addition to geotagging photos and recording travel routes using track-logs, FotoMapr is equipped with an on-board electronic compass which allows the photographer to record the direction that each photo was taken.
FotoMapr works with any digital camera.
Photo Mapping & Reporting
FotoMapr comes with freeware (QuickMap) for mapping photos in Google Earth.
Premium software called GeoJot+ is also available for more robust photo mapping, editing, and reporting features. "Using GeoJot+, data collected in the field with FotoMapr can be converted into a number of file formats suitable for use in popular GIS applications such as ArcGIS, FalconView, TIGR, Palantir, and Google Earth," explained Mr. Kidd.
