George Petrides' Art at Van Der Plas Gallery (New York) Opening April 10, 2019
Self-taught figurative artist, former investment banker, shows sculptures, paintings and a drawing in New York.
NEW YORK, April 4, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- George Petrides drew and painted in watercolors as a child. He left art-making aside as he pursued a bachelor's degree at Harvard and an MBA at Stanford, and for decades worked as a mergers and acquisitions investment banker at major Wall Street firms, then running his own boutique.
Over the years he occasionally took classes in art. In 2017, he experienced some "life changes" and decided to leave banking behind and devote himself to making art, exclusively figurative art, focusing on sculpture, while still painting and drawing every week. George's work can be seen on instagram at @geopetrides_art
George will present 6 works (3 sculptures, 2 paintings, and 1 drawing) as part of a group show at Van Der Plas Gallery, 156 Orchard Street, New York, with an opening reception on Wednesday April 10th, from 6-8pm. Adriaan Van Der Plas has been a contemporary dealer in New York for over twenty-five years, known for showing a wide range of outsider and emerging artists.
