The appeal of this book, Cummings explains, is that it ties the scriptural experiences with the recent discoveries of the nature of our universe and ourselves, which are compatible to one another.

George Cummings’s sequel to his seminal book Understanding the Message, had an organic growth. As scientific studies grew, so did Cummings’s own research, which would later culminate into his newest offering, The Christs of God (published by iUniverse).
“Understanding the Message was written before I was aware of the discoveries in neuroscience and theoretical physics,” says Cummings. “The Christs of God incorporates how these discoveries validate the scriptural understanding of God’s interaction with the universe and everything existing in it. The knowledge we have available to us sheds light on the nature of our humanity.”
In a detailed study of the Christian concept of rebirth, Cummings contextualizes his lifelong reading and study of the scriptures, following the thread of the message of the Gospel from its origin in the Old Testament to its triumphant re-emergence and re-signification in the writings of the New Testament. Drawing upon his years of reflection and use of Greek text, Cummings posits a conception of the presence of God as Christ in us, so that we might live the life of God as it is revealed in the person of Jesus, the Messenger of the New Covenant.
Likewise, Cummings also references discoveries in neuroscience and theoretical physics – how the mind processes the image and knowledge of self and the suspension of things within space – to draw comparisons of God, humanity and faith.
“The appeal of this book,” Cummings explains, “is that it ties the scriptural experiences with the recent discoveries of the nature of our universe and ourselves, which are compatible to one another.”
