Gerald E. Cole Pursues New Marketing Push for Book About Historic Project
Midland, Texas (PRWEB) August 22, 2014 -- The Trans-Alaska Pipeline spans 800 miles and has put Alaska on the oil industry map since its construction finished in 1977. While Alaska is now a well-known player in the oil industry because of the pipeline, this wasn’t always the case.
Author and former surveyor of the pipeline, Gerald E. Cole, invites readers to step back in time and follow the construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline – from conception to completion – in his new book, “Surveyors Built the Trans Alaska Pipeline With Some Help From Others” (published by Lulu).
Cole’s book starts out by taking readers back to 1970 when the pipeline was barely more than an idea, and finishes after 1985 with an epilogue reflecting on the whole process. Cole aims to not only educate readers over the daunting task of building the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, but also entertain them through his numerous humor-riddled stories.
An excerpt from “Surveyors Built the Trans Alaska Pipeline With Some Help From Others:”
“From the earliest days, there has been an aura of romance enveloping this project. It is difficult to say which has been the most captivating. Is it the beauty of the ‘Great Land,’ the challenge of the weather, the magnitude of the project, the stimulation of doing what had not been done before, the application of untried technology, or is it each day meeting a set of problems that one has not encountered before? Perhaps it is some of all of the above.”
