VANCOUVER, Wash., May 16, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- One salon professional is taking the popular balayage technique a step further by having her clients lay down during the process. The technique, which is referred to as a layage, has the client's head tilted back with their hair fanned out on a specially designed table. Lightener is painted on by the colorist. This method gives the colorist an additional level of control and precision unavailable with other approaches.
"The layage gives a flawless and natural sun-kissed look to the hair that can't be achieved with other salon techniques," explains Bee Sam. "By fanning the hair out on a table like a canvas you get unprecedented access and control over the client's hair. This allows the client to leave the salon with a natural look that is flawlessly blended."
Although the layage was not invented by Bee Sam, few colorists in the country have been able to successfully make it a hit on their salon menu like Bee Sam has. Since introducing the service, it has grown into one of the highest requested services for the colorist.
Since first stumbling across the technique on a salon professional's forum about 4 years ago, Bee Sam started experimenting with her own approaches, layouts and brushes before settling on a custom built table that went through several revisions before being used during the service.
"We've come a long way from having my clients lay on the floor when I first started exploring the layage technique," says Bee Sam. "My custom built layage table makes the process more comfortable for clients, and also addresses technical aspects of the process which I've been refining for years. The results being that my layage clients are leaving the salon turning heads with their natural looking sun-kissed hair."
Bee Sam recently shot a mini documentary on the layage.
