Sponsored by Get Away Today's Chuck Smith and Julie Smith, Brad Barton To Be Keynote Speaker to The Weber State University Student Association
Ogden, UT (PRWEB) October 17, 2013 -- Brad Barton will be presenting as a keynote speaker to The Weber State University Student Association will present Project LEAD 2013: Leaders of Tomorrow, the second annual leadership conference aimed at helping WSU students become better leaders. The presentation will be specifically designed for the leaders of the student body at WSU and will be followed by a discussion about issues facing leaders at the university.
Brad Barton is a competitive runner, whose career has been an interesting one. At age 45, Barton decided to begin training seriously again after an extended layoff. Just four years later, Barton, now 49, is making an impressive run of performances since returning to running and joining the competitive Masters scene.
An NCAA All-American while at Weber State, Barton holds age-group world records in the indoor mile and the 3K Steeplechase, and most recently added world titles in both of those events. At the World Masters Championships held in Turin, Italy, Barton defeated a talented international field to continue his streak of outstanding running performances.
Barton has not succeeded without the assistance of others. His wife, Alydia, is a talented high school coach, and he is also sponsored by Get Away Today. Chuck Smith was impressed with Barton’s performance, stating, "To accomplish what Brad has accomplished is so incredible. He has truly inspired everyone he has come into contact with, and his story of achievement is relatable to not only athletes, but to anyone with big goals they are pursuing."
Smith went on to mention that Barton’s message of hard work and perseverance reminded him of starting his company, Get Away Today. Julie Smith agreed, saying, "Brad’s story is a lot like our story. He believes that by working hard and thinking positively there is nothing that is outside of the realm possibility. We are sincerely proud to sponsor him and help him achieve those goals."
Barton was clearly grateful for all of the assistance he has received from his supporters. In a photo released to Get Away Today, Barton is shown on the podium, widely grinning between his competitors, while holding up his gold medal and wearing a Get Away Today running singlet. "We’re just so happy for him. Anytime you can help someone in the achievement of their goals, it is incredibly rewarding. That picture just said it all," said Smith, herself smiling widely.
