Gilbane’s Katie Hurley Named Project Manager of the Year in Connecticut
GLASTONBURY, Conn. (PRWEB) November 13, 2018 -- Gilbane Building Company is proud to announce that Katie Hurley has been named Project Manager of the Year by the Associated General Contractors of Connecticut (AGC/CT). This prestigious industry award recognizes individuals with demonstrable achievements in leadership and professionalism, as well as working practices that reflect skill, integrity and responsibility.
As a 13-year industry veteran, Katie’s reputation as a leader is a direct result of her dedication to all facets of a project; in her current role as senior project manager, she is accountable for the overall management and administration of safety, cost, quality and schedule from contract award through final acceptance and occupancy. She is continually recognized as an outstanding project manager by owners and design partners alike by consistently scoring “exceeds expectations” on Gilbane’s client surveys.
One of her most notable career achievements to date is her successful delivery of the award-winning School of Nursing at Fairfield University. This 68,700 SF addition and renovation project features clinical learning and simulation centers that offer students enhanced practical learning opportunities. From the onset of the project through final delivery, Katie worked with campus staff and design teams to clearly define project objectives and make certain they were implemented into day-to-day operations.
“Katie’s continued success is attributed to her ability to cultivate a collaborative work environment among project teams,” said John Hawley, Connecticut Business Unit Leader for Gilbane. “This cohesion ensures all parties are working towards common goals and objectives and allows us to deliver increased value to our clients.”
Katie is a graduate of the University of Maine with a bachelor’s degree in construction management. In addition to her work as a full-time project manager, she is the Lean Scheduling Coach for Connecticut. In this capacity, Katie travels to various job sites throughout the state to educate and guide project teams in using lean scheduling techniques, such as last planner and Advanced Scheduling and Planning. Katie also serves as chair for Gilbane’s Connecticut chapter of its employee resource group, EmpoWer, which is dedicated to the empowerment, retention and advancement of women working within the construction industry.
