“When the Center opened its doors for the first time in September 1998, there were two chiropractors and a part-time massage therapist in the office. We've grown since then to meet the needs of our community. The team now includes three DCs, one LMT and me.” DuPage Health and Wellness has grown in other ways as well. “We’re always looking for more effective ways to help our patients. Spinal decompression is just one really great example that has helped many patients with back problems to avoid surgery.”
While the focus and motivation have remained the same, Jim Flaherty and his team stress the importance of change and improvement. “DuPage Health and Wellness is always on the lookout for new and better ways to address our Patients’ health-related issues. In the area of food and environmental allergies and sensitivities, we now have 15 years of experience testing and treating over 3,100 patients. We've obviously learned a lot in that time, but we continue to learn from each and every patient we see what works and what doesn't work.” That learning has also allowed the team to become more efficient. “In the past two years, new technology advancements have let us to test and treat a broader range of health issues than ever before. But—at the same time—the average number of treatments necessary to achieve results for the patient has dropped very significantly. On average, the original protocol used to be around 40 treatments. Today, we can accomplish the same thing in 10. Our goal is to get our patients better, faster without sacrificing the quality of the results. So our protocol is much different now than when we started in 1998.”
