A glider is motor less aircraft that is launched by a powered airplane or with the aid of a winch to an altitude of 2,000 feet, then released to soar on its own. Once aloft the glider pilot will stay afloat with the help of a thermal, which is a natural occurring rising column of hot hair. Thermals can easily be found, as birds will circle within them as the thermal pushes them to a higher altitude, thus keeping them aloft for greater length of time.
Upon arrival to the glider airfield, guests will be given a safety briefing from a fully qualified BGA instructor (British Gliding Association). This flight takes place in a dual controlled glider, the instructor will show the controls of the glider, and then guests can try their hands at flying it for themselves. A glider flight is an exciting activity that anyone can participate in, young or old and those of limited mobility. Spectators are welcomed as well to take photos to help commemorate your event.
Glider flights are weather dependent and every effort is be made to ensure a fun and safe flight. This glider flight is available in the South East of England in Norfolk and should last between 15 and 30 minutes.
