SEATTLE, Aug. 5, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Copper Banking, a digital bank developed specifically for teens to help them manage their money while building financial literacy, has partnered with Lily Lapenna MBE for direction on financial education and strategic partnerships with business, government and the education community.
Lily is the founder and Chair of award-winning social enterprise, MyBnk, which supports 11-25-year olds to develop the skills, the confidence, and the knowledge to effectively manage their money and become financially resilient. After a successful campaign to include financial education in the UK school curriculum, she now advises nonprofits, businesses, and governments on financial education and inclusion.
"We interact with money daily, and yet no one sets us up for this important part of life. At school in the US, we don't often learn how to manage money or make effective money decisions and at home, we don't have enough money conversations. This generation affected by COVID-19 and what will be a wide-scale economic recession needs financial education and empowerment more than ever," noted Lapenna. "Copper is aligned with my goal of bringing financial education to young people so that they can take control of their future."
The teenage years are especially important to ensure that young adults have a strong financial foundation before leaving home. Copper Banking was founded with the mission to give teens access to the digital economy with the Copper App and Copper Debit card. The company connects teens and parents with educational learnings aimed at creating a more financially healthy generation.
"We could not be more excited to have Lily on the advisory board," said Copper Co-founder and CEO Eddie Behringer. "Her efforts in the financial inclusion and literacy space are nothing short of incredible and align directly with our mission of building a more financially literate world."
"Lily's proven successes in creating education strategies that engage and educate young adolescents is invaluable as we continue to build Copper. We could not be more excited to have her on the team," remarked Behringer.
