Global Vacation Ventures encourages travelers to go on a vacation during the fall season for several reasons. Classified as a “low-time” for travel, vacationers can expect cooler temperatures, fewer travelers, less-crowded attractions and lower rates on accommodations. There are some extra steps that can be taken during a fall vacation that Global Vacation Ventures is taking the time to share with all travelers in order to make their vacations more enjoyable.

1. Turn a layover into a stay-over.
While layovers in airports are not something that many people look forward to, Global Vacation Ventures considers turning a layover into a stay-over. For example, many international flights will have a stop in London, Berlin or another major European airport. Instead of jetting off to one’s final destination, GVV suggests spending a few days in the layover location to make it a “stay-over.” While some lay-over destinations might not be suitable for this type of detour, many are.

2. Invest in a guidebook.
If a traveler has never been to a destination before, it might be a good idea to invest in a guidebook with some tips and information that will be useful. Many of these guidebooks are inexpensive and easy to find at a local bookstore.

3. Make sure electronic devices are prepped and ready.
There is nothing worse than going on a vacation only to find that one’s memory card is full or a charging cord is missing. Global Vacation Ventures recommends making a list of all electronic devices complete with power cords, chargers, extra memory and more. Be sure to clean out memory cards before going on vacation to make room for all of the vacation memories.

4. Check the weather.
When traveling during the fall, travelers should expect cooler temperatures at most destinations. Because of this, vacationers need to pack accordingly. In order to keep suitcases from being over packed, GVV suggests bringing along a hoodie or sweater and packing layers that can be reused with other outfits, rather than packing a huge overcoat.
