People want to see more entertainment that matters, that’s more meaningful to their lives. Bringing GLOW to Kickstarter allows us to involve those individuals and make them a part of our journey.

Independent film producer Patrick Cheh is planning to release his 3D animated feature, GLOW, to the Kickstarter crowdfunding community in order to secure the necessary funding to bring his feature to the big screen. Inspired by Cheh’s desire to produce a film with meaning, GLOW is based on the concept of a boy named Aion who discovers his heart can literally glow and goes on a journey with a few of his friends to discover the power behind his glowing heart.

Cheh has financed and produced over a dozen films throughout his life, including the number one box office sensation in 2000 called "The Watcher," starring Keanu Reeves. Shortly after that, he began to see his career in a new light and embarked on a journey to create more meaningful films. This led to GLOW, the current animated feature that Cheh created with a team of individuals and looked to “Lion King” co-writer Jonathan Roberts to write the screenplay.

“I had a life-changing event that turned everything important to me around, including my thoughts on status, power and money,” said Cheh. “That experience totally changed and transformed me inside and out, and my work with GLOW is a huge part of that. GLOW is exactly what the world wants and needs – an important, heart-warming tale in which our hero’s superpower comes from within, from the power of love.”

Cheh partnered with two friends, SPIKE (an artist) & JOONG (a storyteller), to start GLOW together four years ago; since then, the team has poured countless time, energy and money into developing the characters, art and storyline. Still, Cheh says, the massive amount of funding needed to produce an animated film is incredibly difficult to obtain with no established franchise.

“We’re bringing the feature to Kickstarter because we love the human-interest angle here and we believe that it is perfect for GLOW,” said Cheh. “People want to see more entertainment that matters, that’s more meaningful to their lives. Bringing GLOW to Kickstarter allows us to involve those individuals and make them a part of our journey.”

In the upcoming campaign, the public will be able to pre-order the GLOW feature on Kickstarter. The campaign to fund the movie will also offer backers in-studio experiences, custom artwork, animations, collectible pitch books for the feature, and even a chance to intern with the team of experienced writers, artists and animators. All these rewards will go toward helping the team secure its $125,000 funding goal, needed to create the pitch book that will drive the investments needed to complete the GLOW feature.
