Golden Corral Proudly Sponsors ProStart Educators of Excellence Awards
RALEIGH, N.C. (PRWEB) May 10, 2019 -- Golden Corral, the nation’s largest grill-buffet chain, is proud to sponsor the 2019 National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) ProStart Educators of Excellence Awards. The annual event recognizes exceptional educators and their tireless commitment to students in culinary and restaurant management education. The ceremony will be held in Washington, D.C., on May 10, in conjunction with the National ProStart Invitational (NPSI).
ProStart is a nationwide, two-year high school career and technical education program that teaches culinary arts and restaurant management fundamentals. NPSI is the country’s premier high school competition for restaurant management and culinary arts. The three-day national competition is held annually to showcase the talents of students from around the country. Nearly 400 students will take part in the competition this year.
With support from Golden Corral, the NRAEF will announce the 2019 recipient of the James H. Maynard Teacher of the Year Award. Established over a decade ago as a tribute to Golden Corral’s Founder, James Maynard, the award honors one Educator of Excellence Award winner for their dedication to providing remarkable experiences to their ProStart students. Teachers who finished first in their state qualify for this prestigious honor.
Golden Corral President and CEO, Lance Trenary, and Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Judy Irwin, will be in attendance to present the award and gift of $10,000 to the winner.
In addition to the top prize winner, Golden Corral is sponsoring three new educator awards that were added this year. These teachers will be recognized by the NRAEF in the categories of Classroom Expertise, Best Practice and Knowledge Sharing, and Industry Connections. Each participating state restaurant association nominates its leading educator who has demonstrated a strong commitment to his or her students and to the ProStart program. The winner from each category will receive $3,500 for their achievement.
“Golden Corral founder, James Maynard, as well as our current Board Chair, Easter Maynard, have a long history of supporting teachers and students, always believing in the importance of developing tomorrow’s industry leaders,” said Trenary. “The winner of this award is carefully chosen from the best of the best for their commitment to providing valuable skills to students interested in the restaurant and food industry. We appreciate their boundless enthusiasm and dedication to their students.”
