Sales Revenue Exceed Pest Control Industry Forecasts For A Florida C12 Member Company Doing It The Old Fashioned Way — By Sharing The “Good News” And Going Green
Greensboro, NC (PRWEB) January 24, 2014 -- Good News Pest Solutions (GNPS) got its start back in 1989 under the name Macy’s Termite & Pest Control, a modestly successful company in Southwest Florida.
Dean Burnside, CEO of GNPS started his pest control career in sales, before becoming a partner with Macy’s Termite & Pest Control in 1996. He took the reigns in 1998, when then owner, John Macy sold Burnside the business and retired.
Published reports reveal that during this period, the Florida pest control industry was crowded and stagnant. Burnside says he needed a clear strategy that would help him grow his business and increase market share. His company's annual revenue was about $200,000.
According to a report by IBISWorld Market Research, market share concentration within the Pest Control industry is low. The majority of the 21,562 operators in the industry are small- to medium-size firms.
It goes on to say, that during 2012, the industry is expected to record $11.4 billion in revenue, reflecting an increase of 5.5% from the previous year and annualized growth of 2.9% over the five years to 2012.
However, Good News Pest Solutions has exceeded these increases by leaps and bounds. Today, GNPS has grown from $200K to over $3 Million in annual revenue. That’s a 1,400 percent increase, far more than the 1.9% annual industry increase over the last 5 years.
According to Don Barefoot, CEO of The C12 Group, “There are two fundamental strategies or paradigms available to CEOs, owners and business executives, as they move to fend-off the incursion of competition and increase their share of a potentially stagnant or shrinking market. Traditionally, they’re told that they must choose between competing or creating. This self-limiting view of what’s possible nearly always leads to unnecessary compromise and sub-optimal performance. So staying in the game and thriving in the 21st century requires a higher view of what’s possible.”
And Burnside claims, this “higher view of what’s possible” was revealed during prayer. He strongly believed the only way his company could compete was by “creating" a unique modus operandi. He says he would reach more customers with the Good News of God's love and forgiveness through the business and by going green. In fact, this revelation led to Burnside later changing the company name from Macy’s Termite & Pest Control to Good News Pest Solutions.
“We strive to live and do business according to Biblical principles, by following the character qualities of Jesus: honesty, integrity, compassion, fairness, and diligence. We built an organization which provides excellent customer service and truly honors God.”
And part of that excellent customer service, according to Burnside, led to GNPS using pest control chemicals approved by the E.P.A to be toxic to pests but of reduced or minimum risk to customers and the environment. Good News Pest Solutions is now recognized as a Green leader in Florida.
Burnside sees his story as unique, but he believes his goal is the same as other Christian CEOs and business owners who are looking to operate their companies as a full time, for profit “platform for ministry.”
Good News Pest Solutions’ community outreach has also grown along with its bottom line. The company supports more than 30 ministries striving to make the world a better place and to produce eternal fruit.
Dean Burnside has no doubt his company is on the right path spiritually and financially.
“We believe our success is a result of our mission to represent Jesus Christ to the Gulf Coast, by providing peace of mind at a fair price, protecting our environment as the leader in green pest
management, and serving others with excellence in all we do.”
