SEATTLE, Oct. 22, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- After months of innovative design and planning, Govurn, a SaaS governance company, is excited to announce the genesis of blockchain-based elections. Govurn is implementing the first ever blockchain-based election for RChain Cooperative's annual board of directors' election. This ambitious effort represents a technology and governance collaboration with Govurn's technology platform partners, Forum Cooperative and Netvote.
The RChain Cooperative is building a blockchain platform to support social and commercial coordination that is robust, secure, and scalable. As a cooperative, RChain members have the right to shape the future of the organization. Members vote on a variety of initiatives and proposals as well as voting annually for the board directors. This year, four board seats are open for election. All members of RChain Cooperative are eligible, if verified, to vote. The election opens at midnight October 22nd and closes October 23rd at midnight.
Govurn's partner Forum Cooperative is providing the technology platform that will allow businesses to run blockchain-based elections, voting, and governance. By teaming up, Govurn and Forum Cooperative represent an unprecedented step forward in designing, managing and implementing secure, verifiable and persistent voting and elections. Running the RChain Cooperative election event using the Forum Platform represents a great stride for governance and the future of democracy.
Karl Kurrle, CEO at Govurn emphasizes, "It is an exciting and necessary time to create technology for better democracy, and an honor to be implementing the first ever blockchain-based election for RChain Coop. It shows the progress and impact of the RChain Ecosystem."
David M. Otto, a managing partner at Reflective Venture Partners said, "We're excited that a Reflective portfolio company is running one of the first blockchain-based election platforms to be launched in the U.S. The Govurn and Forum Cooperative strategic partnership is passionate and well-equipped to take on the challenges facing elections today: identity-verification, technical issues and long lines related to voting machines, coordination of overseas voters, and ballot counting. This local Seattle-based team is taking the initial steps required to restore voter confidence in the election process and advance fundamental democratic principles, ensuring that all voices are heard and provided with an equitable opportunity to vote."
Govurn and Forum Cooperative recognize that trust in voting and elections has been broken. Current solutions to these problems are inadequate. Until now, with Govurn and the RChain Cooperative, there has never been an end-to-end blockchain election.
