GraftWorx, LLC, a company developing implantable technology for integrated remote patient monitoring, today announced a new team member, Frank Honoré, former Technical Lead at Google’s Verily Life Sciences.
“Frank Honoré rounds out our team at GraftWorx with his twenty-plus years of technology development experience,” stated GraftWorx Co-Founder and CEO, David Kuraguntla. “His software and wireless expertise, along with a deep understanding of healthcare technology and remote patient monitoring, will further advance our minimally invasive, ‘smart’ cardiovascular implants.”
Mr. Honoré joins GraftWorx as Vice President of Research and Development. Previously, he was a Technical Lead at Verily Life Sciences (formerly Google Life Sciences). He joined the Google[x] team that was a precursor to Verily in 2012, where he led moonshot projects that included wireless relay for a non-invasive glucose sensor. He holds BS, MS and PhD degrees from MIT and was a founding Member of the Board of Directors at RAIN RFID Alliance. He has been a key contributor to several startup companies including Tierra Design and ThingMagic. He is also the Co-Founder of WebLine Communications which was acquired by Cisco Systems in 1999.
“I am thrilled to bring my extensive knowledge with embedded system architecture, wireless system design, and embedded software design, implementation and product testing to GraftWorx,” Mr. Honoré commented. “Their cardiovascular graft is just the beginning of a revolutionary line of implantable, sensory devices that patients, doctors and hospitals will be able to monitor remotely in an integrated fashion.”
GraftWorx, winner of the Rosenman Institute’s 2015 Innovation Award, has raised over $2.9 million to fund preclinical trials of its smart grafts that can actively detect and avoid impending artery blockages, thus preventing costly complications. Its next round of financing is underway.
