Westchester Insurance Launches Fundraiser for SafeHaven on Behalf of Local Victims of Domestic Violence
Grand Prairie, TX (PRWEB) October 13, 2016 -- Westchester Insurance unveils another remarkable charity campaign in their effort to support local families with a community enrichment program serving the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The latest initiative supports survivors of domestic violence by fundraising for SafeHaven, a nonprofit organization which is the largest and most comprehensive agency in Tarrant County providing services at no cost to victims. Donations for this worthy cause may be made at https://www.crowdrise.com/freedom-from-domestic-violence.
The local statistics are staggering, with one in every three women in the county experiencing domestic violence in their lifetime. SafeHaven is dedicated to ending that violence through safety, support, prevention and social change. Last year, their crisis hotline answered almost 20,000 calls, while 664 women and 896 children fleeing violence received care at emergency shelters in Arlington and Fort Worth. But SafeHaven doesn’t stop at emergency services. They also provide counseling and a safety net of services and support to help survivors establish and sustain self-sufficiency, such as housing programs, legal services, life skills and educational opportunities. Additionally, SafeHaven conducts violence prevention programs for high school students, hoping to end the cycle of abuse.
“It’s high time our community as a whole adopted a zero tolerance policy in regards to domestic abuse,” said Dave Phillips, owner of Westchester Insurance. “This is a truly compassionate group working hard to transform lives by giving women the tools they need to live in peace and safety. SafeHaven, and the women and children they serve, are deserving of our support.”
The agency has made it simple for the community to throw support behind SafeHaven by pledging to donate $10 to the cause for every person recommended for a no-obligation quotation. Readers who wish to take a stand against domestic violence and have Westchester Insurance make a donation in their name may submit recommendations of family and friends at http://www.westchesterinsuranceteam.com/Freedom-From-Domestic-Abuse-_24_community_cause.
Meanwhile, the agency’s dedicated team has created an online social media and email awareness campaign to promote the initiative, as well as having featured it in their community magazine. Our Hometown is a vibrant print and digital publication which is delivered monthly to thousands of households in and around Grand Prairie. Current and past issues may be enjoyed at http://www.westchesterinsuranceteam.com/Our-Hometown-Magazine_39.
