Green Solar Technologies Founder Comments on Amazon's Announcement for Massive Solar Projects in US and Spain
Nicki Zvik, Founder of Green Solar Technologies, shares positive outlook on Amazon's efforts to go green.
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 9, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Billionaire Founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, has recently taken the initiative to move Amazon in a more renewable direction with large scale solar energy projects in Virginia, Illinois, and Spain. These projects will work in addition to the 70 plus renewable energy projects Amazon has around the globe.
The plan for the projects is to create massive solar farms which will be used to power Amazon Web Services data centers and Amazon fulfillment centers with enough power generated to power 67,000 homes (700,000 megawatt-hours of energy per year).
The purpose of the projects, announced Tuesday, is an effort to move the company toward 80 percent renewable energy by 2024, a stepping stone to becoming 100 percent renewable by 2030.
Founder of Green Solar Technologies, Nicki Zvik, commented on last week's announcement, stating, "We at GST are thrilled to see that Amazon is heading down a path of renewable energy, and especially with solar energy. According to Fox Business, Gov. J.B. Pritzger of Illinois was quoted stating, ""As we work to put our state on a path to 100 percent clean and renewable energy, Illinois is proud to have Amazon invest in a major solar project in our state. Addressing climate change will take all of us working together, and leadership from state governments and the business community will demonstrate how we can sustainably power a modern economy and create good-paying jobs."
And Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia said, ""I applaud Amazon for their investment in renewable energy projects in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This solar energy project will generate 80 megawatts of renewable energy, which will help lead to a cleaner and healthier environment."
"As renewable energy still comes with criticism, this is a commendable effort being made by Bezos and the rest of Amazon to push for clean, green energy," Zvik comments.
