Greenberg Traurig Boston Adds Jana Harris, Ph.D. to IP Group
BOSTON (PRWEB) March 15, 2019 -- Global law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP has added Jana E. Harris, Ph.D. to its Boston office as an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property & Technology Group.
A registered patent attorney, Harris focuses her patent practice on technologies in the life sciences industry. She has experience representing start-ups, universities, and global biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies with technologies relating to immuno-oncology, biologics, cell treatments, animal compositions, proteomics, genetics, food and agriculture science, drug delivery, and medical devices.
Harris builds global intellectual property portfolios through strategic procurement, management, and defense to help optimize patent and regulatory exclusivity and lifecycle management for pre-clinical and post-clinical products and technologies. She renders legal opinions and risk-assessment with respect to patentability, validity, and freedom-to-operate to assist in business decisions. She also negotiates, drafts, and performs due diligence relating to licenses, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property-related agreements. Her legal practice has further encompassed brand development, trademark prosecution and clearance, enforcement and defense strategy consulting, litigation, and transactions. She has experience representing clients in patent and trademark infringement, ITC, DMCA, UDRP, and opposition/cancellation proceedings.
Harris obtained her Ph.D. in Cell and Developmental Biology from Vanderbilt University and was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Anesthesiology. While at Vanderbilt, she discovered and characterized a novel cytoskeletal rearrangement in C. elegans oocytes in response to hormonal signaling during fertilization. Her research resulted in a first author paper in Developmental Biology and she was awarded the cover photo of the journal.
