Greenberg Traurig’s James R. Shea, Jr. Appointed to Board of Massachusetts Housing & Shelter Alliance

Shea, Jr., a Real Estate Group shareholder in global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Boston office, was appointed to the board of the Massachusetts Housing & Shelter Alliance (MHSA), a nonprofit public policy advocacy organization dedicated to ending homelessness in Massachusetts. As a board member, Shea will work to advance the MHSA’s mission through advocacy, collaboration, education, housing, and the implementation of outcome-based programs.
Shea focuses his practice on real estate matters, including finance, restructuring, and bankruptcy matters. He represents public and private developers, contractors, and lenders in the creation, development, and financing of mixed-use and urban real estate projects throughout New England. Shea is experienced in public-private and transit-oriented development projects and has collaborated in the drafting of legislation to facilitate the financing of public infrastructure for economic development projects, including Chapter 40Q of the General Laws entitled "District Improvement Financing" and the Massachusetts Infrastructure Investment Incentive (I-Cubed) Program.
Shea’s community involvement includes serving on the board of Greater Boston Legal Services and the Town of Brookline Economic Development Advisory Board, as trustee of The Boston Harbor Association, as chair of the Economic Development Committee of the Commercial Real Estate Development Association (NAIOP), and as a member of the Future Economics Commission of the City of Somerville. Currently, Shea is a member of the Boston Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar Association, and the Government Affairs Committee of NAIOP.
