"Understanding how people in energy work, live, and relate to others is an essential part of moving the energy transition forward and we're thrilled to team up with Gapingvoid to do this important work," - Katie Mehnert, CEO of ALLY Energy.

ALLY Energy and Gapingvoid Culture Design Group have teamed up to launch a groundbreaking approach to understanding diversity, equity, and inclusion in energy. Through a digital, global ethnographic study, thousands of stories from around the world will be captured in an effort to better understand diverse people’s real-life experiences.

In 2018, Ally and Gapingvoid began its first collaboration, teaming up to examine the concepts of equity and belonging across various sectors of energy, including oil and gas and clean energy in its first Energy Diversity and Inclusion Index™. The study provided insights into growth mindset, belonging, and objectivity.

In this new study, Gapingvoid will be employing their innovative Energy Culture Science Assessment™ to understand how people in energy are experiencing their work during this rapidly changing time.

“Energy is a data-driven business, but human connection -- how we feel about our work, colleagues, inclusion, and fairness -- is emotional; and the data of emotion are stories,” said Jason Korman, CEO of Gapingvoid Culture Design Group.

The study will play an instrumental role in carrying out part of ALLY's Energy Workforce of the Future™ platform, which consists of developing an inclusive workforce, working with performance indicators to measure inclusion, developing an "IVP" industry value proposition and energy literacy, and consistently sharing best practices. In collecting stories, the study aims to fulfill the goal of measuring the ways in which inclusion is transpiring in our workplaces.

"Understanding how people in energy work, live, and relate to others is an essential part of moving the energy transition forward. We're thrilled to team up with Gapingvoid to do this important work," said Katie Mehnert, CEO of ALLY Energy.

The survey, which can be found here takes 15 minutes to fill out and is 100% anonymous.

After all the stories are gathered, the results will be announced at ALLY’s State of Inclusion in Energy session, happening in May 2021.
