One patent allows for prioritizing contacts based on whether they have previously replied to an Internet message. An additional embodiment prioritizes contacts based on frequency of communication. Another patent describes instant messaging platforms that classify contacts based on the frequency of communications.
A fifth patent family provides a notification method for online users. Particularly, the patents contain inventions directed to notifying consumers of events, such as the availability of a tracked item or an outbid notice on an online ecommerce site.
