HS-UK Offer a New Enhanced LED Illumination System for your Slit Lamp
Harlow, Essex (PRWEB UK) 16 September 2013 -- Haag-Streit UK (HS-UK), the leading manufacturer and distributor of gold-standard optometry and ophthalmic equipment, is now offering the opportunity to enhance older Haag-Streit slit lamps, by converting them to an LED illumination system.
Many slit lamps still utilise tungsten bulbs, which are more costly, and can lead to equipment down-time when bulbs ‘blow’. The illumination in tungsten bulbs is poorer than LED, meaning the view of the anterior segment and the detail on the retina could be improved. For clinical diagnosis, LED illumination provides the best detail, as the increase in power in the short wavelength improves fluorescence.
Modern slit lamps now have LED illumination as standard, but the LED conversion can be performed on all older BQ900, BP900 and BM900 Haag-Streit slit lamps.
Sam Laidlaw, HS-UK Product Manager, said, “Converting a slit lamp to LED can benefit the user in a variety of ways. LED will reduce the energy consumption by up to 60% and will last up to 150 times longer than a tungsten bulb. It also significantly improves the illumination, eliminating ‘hot-spots’.
An LED enhancement is quick and simple to perform, with very little downtime. The process can be performed by an HS-UK trained Service Engineer, at the customer’s premises, in just a few short hours.
