Half of C-level Executives Say a Well-Executed Digital Transformation "Significantly Strengthens the Chances" of Selling a Company Faster
New CompleteSpectrum data study of more than 300 C-suite executives uncovers how middle market organizations initiate, lead and measure digital transformation projects.
TAMPA, Fla., June 17, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- For C-suite executives, the goal of a digital transformation project is accelerating the path to a profitable exit. Almost half point to a faster sale as one of the main priorities for their company through a successful project, according to a report by CompleteSpectrum. And, more than a third (39%) noted such projects will help sell the company at a higher multiple.
In the "Demystifying Digital Transformation" report, it's clear that the C-suite has a significant degree of confidence in the results a digital transformation can bring to their company. 73% of C-level executives are "very confident" that digital transformation will bring value to customers, while 57% of vice presidents say the same. Additionally, 57% of C-level executives are "very confident" digital transformation will bring value to their investors, compared to 44% of vice presidents.
"It's clear that digital transformation initiatives have the power to impact the valuation and final multiple for a successful exit for portfolio companies," said Matt Stein, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of CompleteSpectrum. "For the C-suite at these companies, it's all about measuring these projects against a tangible business action."
When it comes to setting goals for a transformation, respondents reported a focus on three key goals: increase brand equity (60%), grow market share (58%) and increase higher ROI in marketing efforts (52%).
Additional key findings include:
- More than half (56%) of C-suite executives measure brand equity by market share and brand awareness, while 46% believe it must correlate to customer acquisition rate.
- 44% of C-level executives measure brand equity against market share daily, and 33% measure brand equity against brand awareness every day.
- More than 40% of senior leaders measure the impact of a digital transformation project through an increase in revenue, which can help drive buy-in from key stakeholders or investors.
"Demystifying Digital Transformation" is based on a survey of more than 300 C-level executives, vice presidents and directors at PE-backed companies between $15 million and $200 million in revenue.
