Hand & Stone Partners with Susan G. Komen for 4th Annual Ride for the Cure
Hamilton, N.J. (PRWEB) October 08, 2014 -- Hand & Stone, the fastest-growing massage and facial spa in the country, is partnering with Susan G. Komen of Central and South Jersey for the 4th Annual Ride for the Cure. The event will be held Oct. 19 at The Horse Park of New Jersey in Allentown and aims to raise $65,000 to provide education and screening for underserved and uninsured women in 13 counties in New Jersey.

Ride for the Cure is an equestrian event that follows two scenic trails of the Assunpink Wildlife Area and celebrates breast cancer survivors, their families, and their friends and supporters. In an effort to raise awareness and funds for the event, Hand & Stone will be donating $1 per introductory massage and facial and additional contributions from services for the spas 1,300 members.
“The money raised at the Ride for the Cure event will be directly invested into the central and south New Jersey region, and we appreciate the overwhelming generosity from our partners,” said Alicia Barbieri, spokeswoman for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. “Together, we can increase the access of quality care for women and ultimately change the statistics associated with breast cancer.”
Susan G. Komen Central and South Jersey (CSNJ) serves 13 counties in New Jersey, from Somerset to Cape May, and is committed to increasing screening mammography in order to save lives through early breast cancer detection. Seventy-five percent of the organization’s new proceeds benefit local programs, while the remaining 25 percent fund innovative breast cancer research programs. In 2014 alone, Komen CSNJ invested $1 million into 16 community programs, which aim to screen 8,000 patients and educate 23,000 women.
“Everyone at our spa, from our associates to our members, is excited to raise money for such a good cause and make a difference,” said Nikie Velardo, manager of Hand & Stone in Hamilton. “To further show our support, our entire staff will be wearing pink shirts all month long.”
No registration is required for the event, but participants are asked to raise a minimum of $250 by Oct. 19 to participate. The event is limited to 150 riders, and participants are required to bring their own horse.
