W. W. Tracy’s new novel “Hannah’s Playground” (published by Balboa Press AU) tells the story of a once-happy family devastated by a tragic loss and how 13-year-old Jack works to save them all.
Following the mysterious death of his brother, whose body Jack discovered in a cubby house, Jack is drawn into and trapped inside one of his grandmother’s fairytales. He must fight to reunite his family and keep them all alive. Throughout the adventure, Jack discovers the importance of forgiveness, gratitude and love. He also learns that loving someone can mean letting them go.
“Unlike most fantasy tales, ‘Hannah’s Playground’ employs the security of fiction to connect its reader to precepts tantamount to emotional and social health, including accountability, forgiveness and gratitude,” Tracy says. “It encourages young readers to explore and own their identity, and to create the world according to their desires, by transferring the imaginary to reality, thus leaving the reader with a sense of possibility and empowerment that is often limited to illusionary realms in epic fantasy novels. … Oh, and the storyline commences at the end, then winds down to its inception. It’s not often a tale opens with the chapter 35 and concludes with the first.”
