Glenn Haworth Announces List of Guitars, Ukulele and Accessories for Post-World Record Attempt Auction
(PRWEB) October 01, 2013 -- From 11a.m. on Friday October 4, until noon on Saturday October 5, Australian Glenn Haworth will attempt to set a world record for the Longest Marathon Playing Ukulele. The attempt, with auction to follow, is being staged to raise much needed funds for the Make A Wish Foundation Australia.
Mr Haworth’s goal is to raise $50,000, and almost $3000 in donations have already been received via his EverydayHero page: https://give.everydayhero.com/au/glennhaworth.
“There are several ways that people can help me to reach that goal,” explained Mr Haworth. “Firstly they can donate directly through EverydayHero, and this is the best way for those who are not able to attend the event to support us.”
“But as well, the Make A Wish Foundation Australia will be there cooking a barbecue - so come along and buy a sausage for a great cause! The big news, however, is that many of Haworth Music Centre’s suppliers have got behind my world record attempt and have donated items to be auctioned on October 5.”
Originally, Mr Haworth had planned to auction just the Maton Ukulele he will be playing for the attempt. But the list has grown to include electric guitars, acoustic guitars and accessories.
“We now have an amazing number of items to auction, with all money received going directly to Make A Wish Foundation Australia,” said Mr Haworth. “The list continues to grow, but right now the instruments include a Schecter SGR electric guitar and amp package, an Ibanez RG950QMZ electric guitar with hard case, and an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Pro electric guitar.”
“The accessories that have been donated include those from Fender, a Boss distortion pedal and a Korg effects processor.”
This is the second world record attempt by Mr Haworth, who, in March 2009, set the world record for the Most Guitars Restrung and Tuned in 1 hour: 30 guitars. In that attempt, he was supporting the charity Youth Beyond Blue.

About Haworth Music Centre
Haworth Guitars was first established in 1999 by guitar lover and luthier Phil Haworth. His intention was to focus on repairing and building stringed instruments, but in 2000 he added a retail element to his thriving workshop business.
In 2008, the two-level Haworth Music Centre was opened at Albion Park Rail, near Wollongong, south of Sydney, Australia, staffed by people who thrive in an environment where their love of musical instruments, and music, are encouraged.
Phil now spends most of his time in his guitar workshop. Haworth Music Centre is now run by Phil's son, Glenn, who, as Managing Director, has grown the business to include a very active online sales element, a vibrant social media presence, and huge community support.
In 2013, Haworth opened up a second retail outlet in Wollongong, NSW, which features purpose built test-drive rooms, including those for drums, guitars and amplifiers.
