HBCU College Tours: Black College Alumni Launch Higher Education Initiative
Jacksonville, Florida (PRWEB) September 12, 2016 -- HBCU Lifestyle and Stepping in the Right Direction have partnered to launch HBCU College Tours, a series of all-inclusive trips that give minority students the opportunity to pursue a higher education and visit Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Students can choose from a wide range of college tours, from homecoming trips to spring break adventures. As they travel and explore new campuses, students from all over the country and this year students coming from as far as Germany and Barbados, have the opportunity to speak with undergraduates and ambassadors, professors, athletic and band directors, admissions officials and financial aid representatives. With a dedicated team of HBCU alumni, Divine Nine members, and educators, STRD HBCU Campus Tours provide students with an inside look into the history, spirit, and culture of Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
"They are going to get an authentic, Black College experience, because they are with a group, with an organization, with someone that attended a Black College,” said Nicole Ford, director of Stepping in the Right Direction and graduate of Bethune-Cookman University. "The students can apply on the spot if they are high school seniors or transfer ready community college students. They can experience meeting professors, meeting deans, and meeting admissions. They can, truly, experience, at least in a week, a little clip of what the Black College lifestyle is because it is a lifestyle."
"I am excited to be partnering with Nicole Ford on this HBCU College Tour Initiative,” said Garrick Gibson, co-founder of HBCU Lifestyle and graduate of Florida A&M University. “On our website, we provide the information students and parents need to learn about HBCUs and make informed choices. Now we have the opportunity to expose students to the Black College experience that they have been reading about in person. It does not get any better than that.”
HBCU Lifestyle and Stepping in the Right Direction intend to lead one million high school students to Historically Black Colleges and Universities through their higher education initiative. Each tour includes round-trip airfare, ground transportation, hotel accommodations, breakfast and snacks, professional tour advisors, pre-departure orientation, college tour workbooks, as well as a tour T-shirt, backpack and more.
