A New Dashboard From Health Data Intelligence Highlights Patterns in Medicare DRG Volumes, Payments, and Claims at US Hospitals
Columbus, OH (PRWEB) October 22, 2013 -- Health Data Intelligence (HDI) is pleased to announce the introduction of a brand new dashboard into its premier CarePlan Dashboard Suite: The Medicare Volumes, Spending, and Claims Dashboard. This new dashboard consists of Medicare Enrollee information broken down by DRG volumes and payments, Medicare spending information for enrollees per hospital, and a detailed breakdown of the claims submitted by US hospitals for select periods of time. The resulting analyses shed light on a number of important hospital-specific clinical and financial indicators.
The Medicare Volumes (Enrollees) tab displays information on the number of Medicare patients treated by MS-DRG volume at each US acute care hospital. All MS-DRGs are sorted in descending order by volume, with high-volume, high-payment DRGs listed at the top for easier review.
The Medicare Payments (Spending) tab displays outcomes for CMS’s Medicare Spending per Beneficiary (MSPB) measure, which indicates whether Medicare spends more, less or about the same per Medicare patient treated at a specific hospital, compared to the national average for Medicare spending. This metric has been incorporated into the Value Based Purchasing (VBP) program for fiscal year 2015. A hospital’s performance on this very important metric for the FY 2015 performance period will begin to have financial impacts on the hospital’s bottom line.
The Spending Breakdown tab describes average spending levels during hospitals’ Medicare Spending per Beneficiary (MSPB) episodes and breaks down the MSPB measure by claim type and hospital episode period, a period in time that includes all Medicare Part A and Part B claims paid from 3 days prior to a hospital admission through 30 days after a patient’s discharge.
Available for benchmarking on the Medicare Volumes, Spending, and Claims Dashboard are state averages and the national average for volumes and spending as well as each hospital’s own internal targets or organizational performance goals. Hospitals, health systems, and media organizations are invited to test drive the new HDI dashboard with a free 7-day preview.
