New York, NY (PRWEB) August 13, 2013
It is, perhaps, one of the most distinguished honors a photographer can be awarded. The Association of Photographers (AOP), which is based in London, UK, has boiled down their entries for the 2013 awards into their ‘shortlist’. This ‘shortlist’ is where New York’s Ken Jones from Ken Jones Photography – FultonStudio has fallen, and will soon be selected for the final phases of judging.
According to the AOP’s Awards Manager, Bridgett Flynn says, “There were about 1,800 entries this year and about 58 photographers’ works were shortlisted for the gallery showing and final judging.” Jones’ entries are a part of the 58 mentioned. Among the categories, Jones’ entries have the potential of winning "Best In Show", "Best Members Works", "Best Assistant Works", and "Best Student Works", as well as a special class for "Judge’s Picks".
The AOP has a long, prestigious history, which is why they receive over 1,800 entries on a yearly basis. The AOP awards are well known among the professional photography community among the highest recognition in the field.
The AOP website states:
"There are a lot of photography competitions out there for professionals but the AOP Photographers Awards is still regarded as the original and the best - a celebration of exceptional work by the industry’s elite. This competition is only open to Full & Provisional Photographer Members of the AOP. It is regarded as the awards competition for professional photographers and being selected for entry into the book and accompanying exhibition is considered one of the highest accolades available to photographers around the world."
However, it is not difficult to understand how Jones has made it this far in the awards process. With his experience and his ability to evolve with the cutting edge of the art, it is no surprise that the AOP would regard his work as one of the best.
Perhaps the main reason why Ken Jones Photography – FultonStudio is regarded as one of the world’s most elite photographers is his attention to detail and his understanding of beauty. Jones has been working with beauty photography for most of his 30 year career, giving him the sense to know what catches and pleases the eye.
This could be another reason why Jones has been able to make it this far in the AOP awards process, since it is an organization that leans more toward the artistic side of photography, rather than the purely commercial application of the craft. Of course, while Jones may be known for his creative and artistic work in beauty, fashion, boudoir, and glamour photography, he has also established himself as an authoritative corporate photographer for Fortune 500 companies.
For this reason, it is no wonder why Ken Jones Photography – FultonStudio’s works have already made it into the 30th AOP Awards’ shortlist. The final judging for 2013’s entries will be decided in October.
