Succeed Management Solutions, LLC Competes in Walking Challenge and Achieves 12th Place in Portland
Portland, Oregon (PRWEB) October 20, 2014 -- Succeed is proud to announce that they ranked in the top 16% of local companies who participated in the Every Body Walk! campaign by Kaiser Permanente. Every Body Walk! is a public awareness project that encourages workers to be more active outside of the workplace. This campaign, the Summer Step 10,000 Program, which concluded at the end of September, was a friendly competition between organizations across a wide variety of cities and metro areas. Participating companies gave their staff pedometers and each day, for the month of September, employees recorded the steps they took. The companies with the most average steps per week won the competition.
Succeed placed 12th in the city of Portland among a group of over 70 companies. Succeed participants averaged over 54,000 steps per employee per week.
According to the CDC, active employees are more productive, less likely to be sick, and less likely to be absent from work. Employers that adopt workplace health programs or utilize wellness training have healthier employees on average. Wellness initiatives can also reduce “presenteeism,” which is when employees are present at work but their productivity is compromised due to health issues (from Increase Productivity, published October 23, 2013).
Organizations that take employee wellness seriously often have Health & Wellness programs in place. They can establish weekly safety huddles to emphasize the importance of healthy lifestyles. There are also wellness training programs available to educate employees on healthy eating and exercise habits. Adopting local programs (such as the Every Body Walk! campaign) can also help companies keep employees happy, active, and engaged.
