Former Indiana Health Leader Sam Odle Takes Senior Advisor Post at AvaSure, Provider of the TeleSitter SolutionTM
Belmont, MI (PRWEB) April 15, 2014 -- Samuel L. Odle, FACHE, has been named Senior Strategic Policy Advisor of AvaSure, which provides the fastest-growing solution for remote observation and interaction with patients at risk of self-harm such as falls, removal of life-saving devices, and other injuries.
Odle retired in June 2012 as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Indiana University Health and as President and Chief Executive Officer of IU Health Methodist and University hospitals. Since then he has been a consultant, primarily in the healthcare and life sciences fields.
His new role will be to advise the company on strategic direction during its rapid growth phase, including helping with product development as well as the development and direction of clinical methods and curricula. He will also promote and develop AvaSure’s presence within the healthcare industry.
“I have been around healthcare for decades, and AvaSys is one of those rare new technologies that has an immediate and clear effect on solving a previously intractable healthcare problem,” Odle said. “I see AvaSys as standard equipment in hospitals in the next five to 10 years. Just as we use heart monitors for patients at risk of cardiac problems, we will use AvaSys to monitor patients at risk of falling.”
“We are thrilled that Sam Odle has agreed to help us heighten awareness of our solution,” said the founder and CEO of AvaSure, Brad W. Playford, who invented AvaSys in 2007 as a more efficient solution to monitor and provide care for patients while reducing nurse staff utilization. “He is a nationally known healthcare figure, with a long track record of success at IU Health and leadership within industry organizations. We look forward to his outreach to the leaders of America’s health systems.”
Board-certified in healthcare management, Odle is a fellow and past chairman of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He previously worked with the Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellowship program to develop future healthcare leaders. Active in his community, Odle is an elected board member of the Indianapolis Public Schools.
At IU, he played a key role in the creation of the IU Health Pathology Laboratory, the IU Health Neuroscience Center, as well as the opening of IU Health North, Saxony and West hospitals. Under his watch, IU Health was named one of the “Best Hospitals in America” by U.S. News & World Report.
