HealthCrowd today announced the launch of a mobile-based eligibility initiative for the Greater New Orleans Community Health Connection (GNOCHC). This partnership, in conjunction with the City of New Orleans Health Department, enables Greater New Orleans residents to easily check their eligibility for GNOCHC and its primary care and behavioral care services with no out of pocket costs, as well as find local community health centers and clinic sites to enroll and receive services.
The text messaging-based program makes it possible for community members to complete a criteria screening to determine if they qualify for GNOCHC. The experience also informs users of where to locate local mental health, substance abuse, and HIV/AIDS resources available.
GNOCHC is a Medicaid demonstration waiver that provides health care services to more than 60,000 members in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines parishes. Restored and expanded after Hurricane Katrina with Primary Care Access and Stabilization Grant (PCASG) funding, GNOCHC covers visits at over 40 clinic locations for primary care, preventative care, immunizations and vaccinations, care coordination, lab work and x-rays, and behavioral health care (mental health and substance abuse services).
