Dialysis Drug Lawyers Continue to Investigate NaturaLyte and Granuflo Injuries as Statute of Limitations Approaches
NEW HAVEN, Conn (PRWEB) February 25, 2014 -- Connecticut class action law firm Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers is continuing its investigation into injury claims associated with the hemodialysis drugs NaturaLyte and Granuflo as the deadline for filing a claim approaches.
Manufactured by Fresenius Medical Care North America, NaturaLyte and Granuflo were the subject of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s most stringent recall, a Class 1, in March 2012 in response to an Urgent Product Notification released by Fresenius. State statutes of limitation on injuries caused by Granuflo and NaturaLyte will begin to expire in late March 2014, or two years from the date of the FDA recall. All injury claims must be filed before statutes of limitations run out in the state the claim is filed; state statutes of limitations can range from two to six years, according to information provided by Fresenius Health Care North America on Dec. 18, 2013.
The use of Granuflo and NaturaLyte has been linked to increased incidences of cardiac arrest due to elevated bicarbonate levels in patients who received the drugs. According to the official FDA recall, additional side effects include dangerously low blood pressure, hypokalemia (reduced potassium in the blood,) metabolic alkalosis, and death. The FDA followed the Fresenius recall by issuing a Safety Communication regarding the dangers of treating patients with dialysate concentrates containing acetate, acetic acid or citrate, like those in NaturaLyte and Granuflo.
Court documents reflect that over 400 lawsuits alleging injuries and wrongful death from these drugs have been filed and consolidated in multidistrict litigation in the U.S. District Court, District of Massachusetts (MDL 2428 ). Anyone treated with either of these drugs or those who have lost a loved one who was a dialysis patient is urged to contact Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers for a free and confidential consultation regarding the extent of their injuries and legal rights.
