Former E. Grand Ave. Campus of St. Luke "Community" United Methodist Church is Turning into a New Preparatory School
Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) June 25, 2014 -- Henry S. Miller’s Lane Kommer of the Dallas-Fort Worth Investments-Land Division recently brokered the disposition of the 96,000 square-foot former Grand Ave. campus of St. Luke “Community” United Methodist Church. “We had several developers interested in tearing down the church and building either apartments or townhomes, but the neighborhood would not support it. It really came down to finding the right user,” said Kommer. At the end of last month the property was sold to Reconciliation Academy who is repositioning the former church into a brand new preparatory school. “I am very pleased that we were able to find a buyer that is willing to retain the building’s architectural beauty while giving it a new purpose and fresh look,” said Kommer.
This August the former St. Luke Methodist Church will open as CityScape East Grand Preparatory and will be strategically repositioned into a brand new prep school for the currently known-as Reconciliation Academy. The CityScape Schools plans to retain the historical exterior while giving the building a complete interior overhaul. Immediately, all four floors except for the auditorium will be remodeled including moving and building new walls to make room for more classrooms and offices. New flooring and paint throughout as well as the upgrade and addition of ADA compliant restrooms and required exits. The initial renovation will include a total of 43,000 square feet. “6211 E. Grand Avenue allows the school to expand so we can help more children. The first year we are doubling our student population and offering classes from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade,” said CEO and Superintendent of Reconciliation Academy Leonard Brannon. The former church includes a fully furnished kitchen and cafeteria, large auditorium, many classrooms and additional exterior buildings for growth. The ±2.49 acres that the building sits on offer abundant parking. “The future is bright for CityScape. We plan to, in the near future, convert the auditorium into a multipurpose room for use as a gym and auditorium. We predict CityScape will serve more than 700 children and offer classes up to 9th grade,” added Brannon.
The new CITYSCAPE East Grand Preparatory School is situated on the northwest corner of E. Grand Avenue and S. Glasgow Drive with excellent visibility from Grand Avenue and convenient access. “Our new location on East Grand will allow CityScape Schools to provide more children the opportunity for a quality education and a college education regardless of their zip code,” said Brannon. Located near the Hollywood Heights and Lakewood areas, the school will surely benefit from the area’s continuous growth. CityScape is currently enrolling children for the 2014-2015 school year, for more information visit http://www.cityscapeschools.org.
