Lethbridge, Alberta (PRWEB) August 29, 2013 -- Herb Hicks’ "To and from Gigs: Challenges, Choices, Chances, Changes" (published by iUniverse), his 2013 memoir, tells the story of his life, his love of the arts and his search for knowledge of himself.
Hicks is candid in his remembrances that define his life. His philosophical take on the condition of humanity leads him to search for his particular "self." "To and from Gigs" is informative, entertaining and insightful in questioning the challenges, choices, chances and changes that are familiar to most people.
An excerpt from "To and from Gigs":
"Going to and from gigs I have found myriad variables that make up human behavior---ranging in degrees from love and compassion to anger and hate. The more experiences I have in life, the more I realize that my own ignorance about reality is my greatest hindrance to being content. How I appear to be, how I am, and how the world appears to be are impressions that I attempt to explain, but the truth to the questions are distorted by my opinions and senses. Any insight into how things actually exist is hard to comprehend. To know myself, without any fabrication, is foremost to developing my comprehension."
Hicks hopes his look back on his introspective journey through life inspires readers to think about themselves similarly. "Narration about my experiences and philosophies are relevant to everyone and yet different from anyone," he says. "My unique journey as an artist is filled with adventures and misadventures."
