We look forward to a tremendous amount of activity in the second half of the year, including the outcome of the T-Mobile and Sprint merger, the possible mega-merger between Axiata and Telenor, and the first wave of many sites rolling out in the Philippines. While towers will continue to see a healthy dose of activity globally with build-to-suits, sale and lease-backs, and consolidation, the next wave of activity will be proximity to-the-X for latency and capacity. Quality of service has been declining with the increased data strain over mobile networks, and we expect that there will be healthy growth in towers and a surge in investments in fiber-based deployments. “We have seen significant interest in the proliferation of dense fiber-based converged network investments,” explains Ethan Wilcox, Managing Principal with High Street Global Advisors. “End-user, vertical specific solutions will drive innovative platforms in dense urban, urban and suburban use cases. Similar to multi-tenant tower solutions, when marrying the right commercial framework, services platform and attachment point utilization, yields can be robust and solve many critical pinch points.”
