Simplifying cybersecurity to be consumed by businesses of all sizes is a growing challenge for the technology industry.

High Wire Networks, providers of the Overwatch Security Platform-as-a-Service, announced today, that Josue Vargas, Director of Security Operations for High Wire Networks, will address the state of cybersecurity at CompTIA ChannelCon 2019 in Las Vegas this week.

A certified ethical hacker, Vargas is a featured expert in the “State of Cybersecurity,” panel discussion led by CompTIA’s Chief Technology Evangelist Dr. James Stanger. The session will be held at 10:15 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 7, in the Cezanne Room of the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.

The panel will look at cybersecurity today, including innovations, such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) and cloud, as well as the challenges, such as Internet of Things, the talent shortage and lack of diversity.

Vargas also plans to address why the target for cybercriminals changed to include small and medium businesses (SMBs) and midmarket companies, and the resulting industry challenge to make enterprise-class cybersecurity more accessible.

“Simplifying cybersecurity to be consumed by businesses of all sizes is a growing challenge for the technology industry,” said Vargas. “It’s also a growing opportunity for the IT channel to deliver managed security services. This has been a twin passion for me over the past three years since joining High Wire Networks.”

After tenures with Cisco Systems, Juniper Networks, IBM, Huawei and AT&T, Vargas joined High Wire Networks in 2016 to help start Overwatch, the company’s Security Platform-as-a-Service. Vargas now oversees the team of security analysts in High Wire Network’s 24/7 Security Operation Center (SOC).
