Built in 1886, the home was preserved by FACE, a now-defunct community development agency that operated in Denver from 1969 to 1972.

Most original development in the Baker neighborhood took place following the annexation of South Side to Denver in 1883, when Broadway Avenue’s cable cars drew citizens to the southern part of the city. The neighborhood was designated as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, and became a historic district in Denver in 2000.
