Buying a historic home not only provides a home for your family, but also allows you to own a piece of Denver history.

Buying and selling property in Denver is exciting and rewarding, according to Vivi Gloriod of Team Vivi at HomeSmart Realty Group. But it’s particularly special when the home is a piece of the city’s history. “Buying a historic home not only provides a home for your family, but also allows you to own a piece of Denver history,” said Gloriod.

Team Vivi at HomeSmart Realty Group will soon list two such historic properties, both located in the hip Baker neighborhood of Denver. Baker is home to a plethora of artists and professionals, as well as young families and hip singles.

The first Baker home is located at 153 West Ellsworth Avenue, Denver, CO 80223. Built in 1888, this 4-bed, 3-bath home showcases Queen Anne architecture at its finest. Unique features include imaginative brick patterning, a gable-on-hip roof, and the use of cut stone in the first-floor lintel and foundation banding. An additional carriage house adds even more space, and the ability to create a great income by doing Airbnb.

The second property is a fabulous Victorian home in northwest Washington Park, located at 110 North Sherman Street, Denver CO 80203. The 3-bed, 2-bath, 2-car garage home boasts original woodwork with working pocket doors, as well as a carriage house. Built in 1886, the home was preserved by FACE, a now-defunct community development agency that operated in Denver from 1969 to 1972.

Most original development in the Baker neighborhood took place following the annexation of South Side to Denver in 1883, when Broadway Avenue’s cable cars drew citizens to the southern part of the city. The neighborhood was designated as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, and became a historic district in Denver in 2000.
