Historic Landmark in Ohio is site for International Tree Climbing Championship
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (PRWEB) July 26, 2018 -- Franklin Park in Columbus, Ohio will be the site of the International Tree Climbing Championship (ITCC), http://www.itcc-isa.com/events/itcc/itcc August 3-5, 2018 as the best male and female professional tree climbing arborists from around the world compete for the title of world champion.
More than 70 competitors from 20 countries are expected to participate. Click here for a video of climbers at the ITCC. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYidDAhk5UM
The 42nd annual ITCC is organized by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) http://www.isa-arbor.com and showcases these industrial athletes to educate the public about professional tree work, and the training and expertise it requires to be done safely. Trees are a vital part of all communities and ISA looks forward to sharing this message while in Columbus.
“Demonstrating to the public the type of work done by professionals in our industry is an important aspect of this event,” comments Caitlyn Pollihan, ISA executive director. “It is essential for homeowners to understand the significance of safe and proper tree care.”
This free public event is supported by presenting sponsor The Davey Tree Expert Company, http://www.davey.com based out of Kent, Ohio.
“ITCC is an event that Davey has supported for many years now because it’s an event that showcases so many aspects of arboriculture that are core to our company,” said Sandra Reid, vice president of corporate communications and strategic planning for Davey Tree. “The climbers demonstrate mastery of skill and technique while competing with extreme attention to safety. And, as an added bonus, it’s another opportunity to share the love of trees and the importance of arboriculture with the public.”
ITCC competitors are some of the best in the industry who earn the opportunity to compete by winning local and regional competitions held by ISA chapters and associate organizations around the world. The competition features five preliminary events which begin on Friday afternoon, August 3, and continue through Saturday, August 4. The competitors who score the highest in the preliminary events compete in the Masters’ Challenge championship round, sponsored by Husqvarna, on Sunday, August 5 for the title of World Champion. Each of the preliminary events simulate work-related tasks when pruning and caring for trees.
During the three event days there will also be an Arbor Fair and Expo http://www.itcc-isa.com/events/itcc/arborfair which includes activities such as a Limb Walk and Fun Climb, educational and musical entertainment, crafts, educational displays and more. So, along with watching the competitive tree climbing, which highlights skill and safety, children and adults can also learn about the benefits of trees and proper tree care practices.
