“Historically Black Colleges and Universities” (published by Xlibris) are responsible for 22% of current bachelor’s degrees granted to African-Americans, according to The Network Journal. They have produced notable and prominent alumni who have made outstanding contributions to the nation, yet author Alphonso W. Knight, Sr. has observed that a large number of African-Americans do not know that these colleges exist. This has compelled him to write his new book in the hopes of helping aspiring college students and young people of all nationalities learn more about these institutes and broaden their horizons and future educational options.
Knight’s background in education and as an African-American prompted him to write this book, which gives readers the history of each of the “Historically Black Colleges and Universities,” with other relevant information such as their notable alumni. This book is a forerunner for individuals seeking an advanced education beyond the secondary level. The author emphasizes the importance of education in the modern world and the need for young people to be informed of their options. He also notes the vital role high school guidance counselors play in showing youths the possible paths they may choose, a decision that will help determine what kind of life awaits them in their futures.
“Historically Black Colleges and Universities” provides instant information on all the titular institutes of higher education, making it an invaluable tool for high school students entering a new and decisive phase in their lives.
