WHO: HNTB’s Michael Jones, PE, SE, principal engineer, and David J. Graue, AIA, LEED AP, Los Angeles studio leader, will be available for on-site interviews, before and after the press event. They will address architectural design elements, state-or-the-art seismic and structural enhancements, and innovative technical aspects incorporated into the Viaduct.
WHAT: Media opportunity for one-on-one interviews with HNTB’s architect and project engineer at the press event. HNTB has served as architect-of-record and engineer-of-record since the Sixth Street project began and can highlight unique structural and design innovations not visible.
WHEN: 5 PM – 6:30 PM Friday, July 8, 2022, prior to start of the press event and following the event.
WHERE: Sixth Street Viaduct, Boyle Ave and Whittier Blvd in Boyle Heights.
WHY: Largest bridge project in the history of Los Angeles is nearing completion and opening soon. Dubbed “The Ribbon of Light,” the new 3,500-foot span connects historic Boyle Heights to the Downtown Arts District. The iconic 1932 original bridge was demolished in 2016 when it became seismically deficient and in danger of collapse.
