Institute of Dance Artistry Holds Benefit for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
Montgomery County, PA (PRWEB) October 20, 2015 -- “The annual dance concert series this year will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society,” said Jamie Lipskin, an instructor and director of IDA. “Tickets are $20 each with all money going to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, so we are urging the public to come out and support this worthy cause and enjoyable show for dancers and non-dancers alike.”
The Generations dance concert gives the students at IDA the opportunity to perform alongside professional dance companies within the Philadelphia area while raising funds for charities. In addition to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, other charities IDA has helped in the past include Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium, Katie's Kids for the Cure, and Be The Match Foundation. In the past ten years, IDA has raised over $45,000 for these various charities through the Generations benefit dance concert series.
“Generations is special and unique for many reasons: It teaches our students that their passion and talent for dance can be used for good and that art enriches lives in so many ways,” said Jamie. “Through Generations, our students dance for more than just themselves and their audience; they dance to raise funds and awareness for an important cause and gain a sense of community, pride and fulfillment as well as the understanding that they can give back through dance.”
Tickets for Generations are available in advance by emailing idadance(at)comcast(dot)net and will also be sold at the door of the show. For more information about the IDA, including snippets from previous concerts, check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDmMk4a_x6o
